Currently Inspired By, Loving, & Coveting

With the move to the new house, the beginning of fall, and the start of a new month, I'm feeling inspired by lots of new things to buy, do, see, try, add to my house/wardrobe/life, etc.  This is including but not limited to the following:

It's a Wonderful Sangria
This delightful sangria recipe. I'm hosting a small get together for my future sister-in-law in two weeks and I think this will be the perfect fall drink (I'll add a brown sugar rim!)

Anthropologie Flutter Pattern Rug for the dining room. Sadly, this is out of my price range. Sigh.

Rugs USA Tuscan Moroccan Shag Ivory Rug
Rugs USA Tuscan Moroccan Shag Rug for the living room. This is in my price range but indefinitely out of stock it seems.

Smoke Grey cream polka dots Decorative Designer Pillow Cover 18x18 Accent Cushion ikat light gray smoke charcoal spots preppy circles Fall
I order these throw pillow covers for the living room couches from Whitlock&Co. on Etsy. Can't wait til they get here!

Free People Ash Destroyer Boots in Brown. I need these like I need a venereal disease considering I have vintage Frye boots and another pair of boots with a zipper back already. But I just can't get enough of boots with zippers + tall socks.

I think this outfit is so chic and would love to recreate it. I ordered another pair of J. Crew Minnie pants in hopes that I can recreate this am on the hunt for a similar top.

Fall colors, cooler weather. I really hope the husband and I can get in some outdoor hiking time with the pup this fall. Last year, she was just a tad too little but I think this year she would love it. (source)

.
This is something I'm really trying to work on this fall. I spend far too much time doing things that don't necessarily make me happy. I need to do more of the things that do make me happy. Like reading, and hot yoga, and running, and cooking.

What are you inspired by/loving/coveting currently?

The downstairs paint job! LOVE the color Abalone by Benjamin Moore
Master bedroom Harbor Gray by Benjamin Moore

Love that we have a back patio but it definitely needs some TLC

The deck off of the guest bedroom. Also needs a little TLC

Ah, don't you just love moving!

The above picture prompted me to pour this glass.

New homeowner priorities. I purchased this first thing Saturday morning.
First meal cooked in the new house, buffalo chicken egg rolls. I used this recipe from Iowa Girl Eats.
The furriest member of the family was a little confused but she's adjusting.
Hooks from Anthropologie.
We upgraded our tv to a smart Google tv. Its amazeballs. I can access Netflix via the tv and I have watched like a hundred hours of Felicity. Again.
The cardboard pile is insane. My dad came and bundled it all up for us.
I made some progress on Saturday and now we finally have a place to eat.
Guest bedroom.. I like the way its going so far!
The living room set up. Throw pillows have been ordered and we have a lot of  things to do in here but its nice to have a place to sit!

So far home ownership has been great but has come with lots of challenges:

  • The dryer is on its last legs and make a horrible sound while its working.
  • The closet fell in our bedroom and is pretty much unusable in its current state. I had Home Depot come out last night for a consultation. The closet will be fixed and organized for less than a thousand! Its going to take a few weeks before work can begin which stinks but it has to happen!
  • The faucets in our master bath were super loose and the hot water faucet came off. It was an easy fix but honestly it freaked me out at first!
  • I bought primer for a furniture painting project. Put it at the top of the stairs of the basement and it fell down the stairs and now there is sticky primer all over our basement floor!

That being said, I love this house. Love, love, love it and I never want to leave!

Finally!

{view from the kitchen}

We closed on our house yesterday morning after a long, arduous 2 months! It feels so good to finally be homeowners. We had the painters in there first thing this morning and we will be officially moving in on Friday! I cannot wait! I'll likely be away from the blog until after all this goes down, but I'll be back once everything is up and running!

Gray Paint Inspiration Photos

Since we close on the new house in less than a week and all of our paperwork is signed, sealed, delivered I don't feel so superstititous sharing some details about the house. We are painting the downstairs, our bedroom, and possibly the master bathroom. They will all be pretty much some form of gray because I fucking love gray. I know that like every blogger in the land loves gray but my love for gray runs deep and my love for it will outlast any trend.

On that note, I found incredibly difficult to find the perfect gray for downstairs and our bedroom. I found some wonderful inspiration photos on the web and literally ran through every gray Benjamin Moore produces. I texted my sister daily for weeks saying, "Check out Galveston Gray" or "what do you think of Chelsea Gray for the master?" or "is Balboa Mist too neutral?". I'm really suprised she didn't lose her shit on me.

After a few weeks,I'd narrowed (using that word loosely) it down to these grays:

Finally, after weeks and weeks, I decided on Benjamin Moore Abalone for the downstairs and Benjamin Moore Harbor Gray for our master bedroom.

Here are my inspiration photos:

Abalone
How gorgeus is this color??? I die. (source)

LOVE. (source)

Harbor Gray

I can't wait to see this color in our bedroom (source)

Looking at these pictures, these colors look eerily similar but from my research I've heard that Abalone is very neutral and that Harbor Gray is darker than expected. Obviously, I'm still going to test them out on my walls when I get in there (finally!) on Monday but I'm feeling pretty confident about colors!

Do you have a gray paint color you love? I probably shouldn't ask because I'll drive myself (and many others) crazy but please do share!
