Spilling about my Love

Today I am linking up with A. Liz Adventures to share with you all about my love life! This link-up is quite fitting since yesterday was our 2nd anniversary (which we spent drinking red wine and eating Thai food at our favorite Thai place in the city).

{1} Describe your dating life prior to finding your husband/boyfriend/fiance.
Messy. I had a serious boyfriend in high school that I truly thought I was going to marry. We broke up at the beginning of senior year and I was absolutely, completely devastated. Unfortunately, we proceeded to put each other through a world of hurt for the next several years. It was pure torture and for a long time I couldn't see through to the other side. One day, I realized that the two of us were never going to work out, there had been too much hurt between us, and we kind of unspokenly ended things. Its hard to explain how G came into my life as he was technically already in it since we'd known each other for 4 years when we got together. I guess without all the baggage of my previous relationship, I saw him with a different clarity and realized what a great guy he is and how much we have in common. He's changed every notion I ever had about what it means to love someone. Very, very thankful to have what we have now.

{2} Describe your husband/boyfriend/fiance in one word. How would he describe you in one word?
Genuine. What you see is what you get with G and I love that about him. He genuinely cares about me, the dog, his family, his friends, his work. When he says he is going to do something 99% of the time he follows through with it. Whether its plans with a friend or cutting the lawn for his mom, he's there. His one word to describe me is dedicated.

{3} You had a really silly fight. Embarrassing silly. What was it about?
Both of us have a hard time not expressing our feelings which has led to a lot of fights. I'm not sure what silly things we fight over because usually the fight escalates and then we're angry and then tired and neither of us can remember what we were fighting about in the first place. I will say this, I (and G) think sometimes we get into arguments for the sake of arguing- it seems we like the drama of it. We're both really good at apologizing, though. The quote from "Love Story" that says, "love means never having to say you're sorry" is misleading and completely untrue.

{4} In three sentences (and only three!), describe where you both hope to be in 5 years.
I hope we have a baby, if that's the path we've decided to take in life. I hope we are still living in a city somewhere if not here. I hope we are both incredibly happy career-wise and happy in our personal lives.

{5} Tell us something about your husband/boyfriend/fiance we wouldn't know from reading your blog.
He's a nickname fanatic. Seriously, almost everyone in his life has a nickname of some sort. Some are very obvious like a person's last name. Some, like most of mine and the dog's, are completely off the wall. The nicknames take on a life of their own and morph into several different nicknames over the course of time. He says its a sign of affection so I guess I'm glad I have a whole bunch and they're all weird.

{6} What's one thing you never thought you'd do in front of your husband/boyfriend/fiance, but you did?
Talk about bowel movements. It comes up a lot in our household.

2nd Anniversary

We said we'd walk together baby come what may
That come the twilight should we lose our way
If as we're walking a hand should slip free
I'll wait for you
And should I fall behind
Wait for me
We swore we'd travel darlin' side by side
We'd help each other stay in stride
But each lover's steps fall so differently
But I'll wait for you
And if I should fall behind
Wait for me

Now everyone dreams of a love lasting and true
But you and I know what this world can do
So let's make our steps clear that the other may see
And I'll wait for you
If I should fall behind
Wait for me
Now there's a beautiful river in the valley ahead
There 'neath the oak's bough soon we will be wed
Should we lose each other in the shadow of the evening trees
I'll wait for you
And should I fall behind
Wait for me
Darlin' I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me

Happy 2nd Anniversary to my favorite person in the whole world!

Half Marathon Recap

So, where to begin? I don't have any pictures of pre-race or even directly after the race because I lost my phone the morning of the race. Sad face. I'm going to keep this recap short and sweet because my experience was great and then went wrong. The actual race itself was a blast I had so much fun and ran a little over a ten minute mile the entire time. I ran the Zooma Annapolis Half Marathon and the two major challenges of the race were the lack of shade during the race and the constant hills! It wasn't super hot but we got little respite from the heat the entire race and there were so.many.hills. I felt like I was going uphill the entire time, even the finish line was uphill. Cruel.

About fifteen minutes after the race ended, I was struck with a terrible migraine. Seriously one of the worst migraines I've had in recent years. I couldn't fall asleep which is usually my go to remedy and the pain was moving from place to place. I was in tears. My husband was such a trooper and was literally at  my beck and call. I used to get one to tow migraines a month when I was younger and then I gradually grew out of them and now I usually get one to two every year or so. I'm not sure what happened. I don't know if I pushed myself too hard and while I'm happy with my time I would have happily taken a slower time and not had a migraine that day. It could have been the heat or any number of things- I'm really very perplexed by the onset of the migraine. I did manage to sleep eventually and was able to still enjoy the evening but it was definitely a damper.

Enter Monday afternoon. I see a Facebook posting from Zooma about the course. There was a mistake in the route and the course was actually .25 miles short. So for all of that I didn't even run 13.1! In the end, I'm  not too pressed over a quarter of a mile but I still feel a little cheated.

It definitely won't be my last half marathon but I think for now I am going to stay away from hot weather races!
